Proving Possession and Retrievability within a Cloud Environment: A Comparative Survey
نویسنده
چکیده
Outsourcing data to a remote Cloud Service Provider (CSP) is a growing trend for numerous organizations alleviating the burden of local data storage and maintenance. While Cloud computing makes these advantages more appealing than ever, it also brings new challenging security threats towards user’s outsourced data. It’s of crucial importance to customers to have strong evidence that they actually get the service they pay for. Moreover, they need to verify that all their data copies are not being tampered with or partially deleted over time. As a result, data owners need to be convinced that their data are correctly stored in the Cloud. So, one of the biggest concerns with cloud data storage is that of data integrity verification at untrusted servers. In order to solve the problem of data integrity checking, many schemes are proposed under different systems and security models. In this paper we surveyed two core integrity proving schemes in detail along with different methods used for data integrity in both the schemes. Keywords— Cloud Service Provider, Provable Data Possession, Proof of Retrievability.

Mirror: Enabling Proofs of Data Replication and Retrievability in the Cloud
Proofs of Retrievability (POR) and Data Possession (PDP) are cryptographic protocols that enable a cloud provider to prove that data is correctly stored in the cloud. PDP have been recently extended to enable users to check in a single protocol that additional file replicas are stored as well. To conduct multi-replica PDP, users are however required to process, construct, and upload their data ...

Cloud computing has emerged as a computational paradigm and an alternative to the conventional computing with the aim of providing reliable, resilient infrastructure, and with high quality of services for cloud users in both academic and business environments. In cloud storage service, clients upload their data together with authentication information to cloud storage server. To ensure the availability and integrity of clients' stored data, cloud server(CS) must prove to a verifier that he is actually storing all of the client's data unchanged. And, enabling public auditability for cloud storage is of critical importance to users with constrained com...

For data storage outsourcing services, it is important to allow users to efficiently and securely verify that cloud storage servers store their data correctly. To address this issue, a number of Proof of Retrievability (POR) and Proof of Data Possession (PDP) schemes have been proposed wherein servers must prove to a verifier that data are stored correctly. While existing POR and PDP schemes of...

Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) offered by cloud service providers is a paid facility that enables organizations to outsource their data to be stored on remote servers. Thus, SaaS reduces the maintenance cost and mitigates the burden of large local data storage at the organization’s end. However, the fact that data owners no longer physically possess their sensitive data raises new challenges to th...
